Sade's Story

She sat upright and held the covers close to her naked body, she gazed at the rumpled bed and the tears came again. She could hear Henry, her ex boyfriend, whistling in the bathroom. He always did that when he had had satisfying sex. How could I? Sade asked herself for the umpteenth time.

Sade was from a Christian home and had always been a church goer due to the influence of her parents. Three months ago, she went to a crusade and the Woman who ministered got to her and made her heart yearn for God. She had made God so real to her and when the altar call was made she went out and accepted Christ. She was so joyful, she was now born again.

Her first point of call was to go to her boyfriend’s house, Henry. She had been dating Henry consistently for nine months and she knew she could not just continue with her riotous life. She and Henry had always had fun, but now all she ever did seemed so dirty to her. She told him point blankly that she wanted out and that the relationship between them had been broken. He tried to find out what was wrong and scoffed at her when she said she had given her life to Christ and was ready to start a new life. He pulled her close and gave her a kiss to shut her up. She screamed and pushed him away with all her might and ran home.

She went to see her Pastor and told him everything.

“Dont mind him, they always don’t want to give you up. I can assure you you are saved and the devil is trying to take you back into sin,” her Pastor assured her

“i understand sir, but how do i stop sinning. I must confess that my body wanted that kiss and it took all my strength to let go”

“The Holy Spirit is there to help you with your weaknesses. Just call on him to help and He will, do have a nice day.”

Its been three months and she avoided him like a plague, even though she wanted to see him and was missing him badly. They met  in a canteen and he persuaded her  to come and say hi to her. She went with him, and the rest was now history. She felt so guilty and ashamed of what she had done. She rose up from the bed with tears in her eyes as she dressed up slowly. 

She  had read a book which she liked and she decided to talk to the author of the book, trepidously she called the number of the author. She explained all she was going through and the lady fixed an appointment with her. She was tired of living a double life, she wanted to be free to serve her saviour, as she really ought to.

“God afternoon ma,” she greeted with a courtesy, she was surprised that the lady was looking so young

“Good afternoon, so can i hear everything” the lady replied. Her  voice was so deep and carried so much authority. Without wasting much time she narrated all that happened to the woman, and she ended up bursting into tears again

“Oh, dry your eyes, “ Mrs Daniels said as she gave her a white handkerchief.”

“Everything that happened was normal. I am happy you are touched by what you did. That means you are truly saved. I am also glad you decided to seek for help. After the sex, did you ask God for forgiveness?”

“Yes i did but i still feel so dirty and I  am sure God haven’t forgiven me”

“Whew,” Mrs Daniels sighed “, I guess we will have to start from there. A Christian is not supposed to sin but if he does so, we have an advocate with the father who cleanses us from all unrigteouness. So says 1 John 2:1-2

 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

So my dear, Jesus is always ready to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So your first faith walk is to always believe you have been forgiven. Can you do that? Seeing her nod she continued”,I will like to teach you a lot of things but it might take a series of lectures. I will be laying a foundation today an will be continuing tomorrow. I will need you to be commited to those classes. I an quite busy, so i will have to squeeze out time, so no coming late and stabbing of lectures, Okay”

“Okay ma, I am ready. I just want to know how to live a victorious  Christian life. In fact i came here with a pen and notebook. Thank you ma.

“The first thing i will want you to understand is that as soon as you were Born again, your spirit was saved, but your body and you soul did not change. Did it?

“I understand that my body did not change, but what i don’t understand is the difference between mu spirit and my soul.”

“They are different my dear. You see man is a spirit, he has a soul(emotions, will, intellect) and lives in a body. Lets look at the bible in  1 Thess 5:23

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole SPIRIT and SOUL and BODY  be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the above passage, there was a clear demarcation between the three. With your spirit you contact the spiritual realm. With your soul you contact the intellectual realm. With your body you contact the physical realm. There were some things you have always believe (intellect), that is not in line with God’s word and there are some desires in your flesh that have always been at home in your body.So you need to work on getting those two saved just as your spirit is.

“ But how. Do i need to say another prayer?”

“Nope. Lets start with the soul. The bible teaches us how in James 1: 21

21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. So my dear the solution to that is the word. Since you have been saved, Have you been reading the word of God, constantly.

“Yes but not so constant.”

“Good, next week we will talk more about the soul and the flesh (body), but your first assignment is to ensure you read the Bible at least once a day (twice is preferable). Then 2 you will need to pray in the spirit for at least 30 mins everyday”

“i cant do that ma. I’m not yet baptized ma “

“Dont worry, we will handle that now. God is always willing to give us that, just belive. You can start reading the bible from the new testament. It is easier that way. I have a ministration soon so lets meet next week Tuesday. Make sure your assignments are d0ne oh, so lets get you baptized.”

Sade left there an happier Christian and was so looking forward to her next class. She was so glad she could now speak in tongues.
